Orthodontic Treatments

Taking all our patients individual situations into account, Rosalie Dental is pleased to offer orthodontic services catering to all ages. With a desire to keep you informed our orthodontics section of our website includes information for

At Rosalie Dental, we are committed to practising orthodontics which takes into account the effect of orthodontics on the face. In other words, we want to see straight, beautiful teeth, but not at the expense of the facial profile.

For this reason, rather than ‘pulling out teeth’ to fit a small jaw we attempt, if possible, to grow the jaw to encompass all of the teeth. This enhances the patients’ appearance and functionality of the teeth and jaw.

Some of the benefits of orthodontic treatment can include,

Full facial profile

Normal size jaws leads to a full facial profile. Underdeveloped jaws and fewer teeth lead to a sunken looking face.

Good oral posture

In normal size jaws, there is adequate room for the tongue which results in normal speech, normal lip seals, and swallowing, less teeth grinding, and upright body posture and less teeth grinding. In an undersized jaw, the tongue is squashed to the back of the mouth and results in the head being pushed forward, affecting, speech, functionality of the jaw and posture.

Airway development

When underdeveloped jaws are grown to normal size, the tongue has room to posture forward, leading to a larger and opened airway. If the jaws are left underdeveloped, the tongue is squashed back and reduces airway space. The airway space can become fully close during sleeping leading to snoring and breaks in breathing, known as Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).

At Rosalie Dental our experienced dentists understand that different age groups have different treatment needs and requirements, which is why we have organised our website according. We also understand the importance of aesthetics for many of our patients which is why we offer Invisalign, the clear alternative to braces, as a treatment option for some patients. For more information on Invisalign click here.
